Magnum Piering

Overview

Magnum Piering is an engineering and manufacturing office located in Loveland, CO, specializing in manufacturing high-capacity, high-quality steel piling products for deep foundations and foundation repair applications.

Magnum needed a way to streamline the engineering specification process to help customers choose the correct products for their unique project designs. For each new project, engineers had to get an extensive data collection of site-wide soil samples. They then used that data to calculate each helices pile and depth. The engineers manually generated reports from this process using complex spreadsheets, making the process incomprehensible to clients. To solve these problems Magnum partnered with Radial to build software around the complex spreadsheet data and specialized engineering equations.

Our initial delivery focused on simplifying the process customers use to choose the correct products for their unique project designs

  • Allow customers to input soil test data
  • Design customized touch friendly widgets to make the application useable with tablets and phones

Output results are displayed in a visually appealing graph

  • Display results showing torque and capacity needed for the given product
  • Allow customers to easily add the pile to their shopping cart, eliminating potential ordering mistakes
  • Connects customers to a direct link with customer service through the help feature within the application

Results

Magnum now has a working application that makes the buying process for their helical piles one of the most user-friendly in the marketplace. Each customer can go through a custom process to determine the correct product for their specific project. Not only do customers have instant access to simplified graphing models and report generation, but they have a direct link to instant customer service assistance through the help feature within the application. The new software also replaces the need to hire a team of engineers by having the software perform the specialized calculations based on client input. This can save customers over $1,000 by cutting engineering costs from their total bill.
